“I’ve worked hard for my career here since I was 17”

“I’m proud to have worked for Nationwide Building Society for over 20 years.
“I truly love my role as the Senior Branch Manager for Swansea and the surrounding areas. I’m originally from Skewen, and I’ve worked hard for my career here since I was 17. Swansea will always have a little piece of my heart.
“I have built so many lasting relationships with members, like those from when I began 20 years ago, who still come in now. Members come to us just for a chat sometimes, other times we make life changing differences through the services that we provide.
“Our recent re-location to Oxford Street has given us the opportunity to open our doors and welcome people in at a time where so many were forced to stay at home. We’ve been lucky enough to connect with and make a true difference to organisations such as Matthew’s House, Shelter Cymru, Autistic Minds, Llamau, Zac’s Place, Swansea Women’s Refuge centre and many more. We’re keen to support local businesses and build lasting relationships.
“We have mindfulness sessions at Nationwide where we do yoga on Wednesdays, which really helps bring the whole team together, especially for those who work from home.
“Nationwide has also really supported my career and has given me flexibility to work from home so I can be there for my 12-year-old daughter. As a single mum, I feel empowered by this, as they have put their trust in me to work hard and allowed me to be the best mum I can be for my daughter.
“Every summer I aim to spend a couple of hours on the beach on the weekend. Me and my daughter have tried surfing, and we have loads of fun. We’re so lucky to live by the beaches, and to live in a city which is so full of character and community spirit.
“Members are at the heart of what we do at Nationwide. Working with the wider community is something I’m passionate about. The support we have provided and continue to provide to vulnerable members is invaluable.
“We’re working hard to bring the community into our branches to enable us to continue to do this day in, day out.”
