Introducing Antonio and Karmelo, from Millefoglie
Jul 27, 2021

“We grew up together in Sicily and have known each other since we were three years old. We always had a dream of opening a café together.
“I (Antonio) left Italy when I was 19 years old. I’ve since lived in London, France, Spain and Australia working as a chef in various Michelin star restaurants and kitchens. I love discovering new cuisines and techniques. My passion is finding desserts from around the world. I would definitely say that my travel experiences have influenced my passion for creating the perfect dish.
“I think technique is so important. Once you have mastered the technique of a recipe you can add your own personal touch and twist on the original. The techniques I picked up on my travels have inspired what I do today.
“After much research, Karmelo and I saw that Swansea was a great place to start a business- due to its up-and-coming nature. We’re really happy here and our mission is to bring high quality coffee and food and customer service to our guests.
“We currently have thirteen speciality Italian coffees on offer, made with coffee beans from all around the world. We also have various types of loose tea available, perfect alongside our Italian and French inspired pastries and cakes.

“We don’t have a menu for our pastries, as we create new dishes, daily. Our customers love trying new pastries each time they visit and enjoy the element of surprise of not knowing what pastries are on offer that day.
“We originally planned to be an all-pastry café as it is my specialty, but we later decided to add savoury dishes to the menu too.
“Our savoury menu is rather small, but there is reason for this. We want to ensure we provide the highest quality food to our customers and this is how we achieve that.
“Not only do we make our own fresh focaccia and arancini, we also import our ingredients straight from Italy. We want to give our customers a true taste of our home.
“Since working here, we’ve realised just how small the world is, we’ve even had a customer that had holidayed in the exact place I once worked in the South of France.
“We are excited to see where the future takes us in Swansea!”
