Pretty much every Dad out there will be expecting the usual socks, slippers and/ or wallet this Father’s Day, therefore we’ve done a bit of legwork to come up with some quirky things to do with Dad instead!
Whether it’s a free guitar workshop, admiring classic cars, learning how to Salsa, knocking out a tune on the Karaoke, Live Music, Sunday Lunch with a difference or maybe a cwtchy family film Swansea City Centre can promise a great Father’s Day!

1. Swansea Classic Vehicle Show in Swansea City Centre
Swansea City Centre – Oxford Street, Princess Way & Castle Square
- Sunday 17th June – 10.30am to 3pm
- Cost: FREE (Plus free parking in all council-run city centre car parks)
The event will streamline and build upon the good work and commitment of the Festival of Transport that finished in 2016. Oxford Street, Princess Way and Castle Square will be lined with classic and vehicles for you to admire and for Dad to reminisce about them!
The event is free to attend, so bring the family along and enjoy a day out in the city centre
2. Guitar Workshop with Libor Šmoldas at Swansea International Jazz Festival
National Waterfront Museum, Oystermouth, Swansea SA1 3RD
Get Dad booked onto this FREE Guitar workshop with one of Europe’s top jazz guitarists. Besides leading Czech and European musicians, Libor Šmoldas has worked, toured and recorded with international stars such as bassists Jay Anderson and George Mraz, drummers Jeff Ballard and Adam Nussbaum, organists Sam Yahel, Ondrej Pivec and Brian Charette and legendary saxophonist Bobby Watson.
3. Dance Classes and Social Dance at Revolution
24 Wind Street, Swansea City Centre. SA1 1DY
- Sunday 17th June – 2pm to 8pm
- Cost: £5 (first 30 people through the door will get a FREE drink)
Dust off Dad’s dancing shoes and get Dad down Wind Street to Revolution for an afternoon of partner dancing. The event is brought to Swansea City Centre by Urban Tango Nights and is to promote the Swansea Dance Scene. This includes a series of 30-minute taster classes followed by a social dance including: Argentine Tango, Bachata, Blues, Foxtrot, Kizomba, Lindy Hop, Modern Jive, Quickstep, Salsa, Samba, Rock and Roll, Rumba, Waltz, West Coast Swing and Zouk.

Why not treat Dad to some grub this Father’s Day! Here’s a great suggestion – Gentleman’s Afternoon Tea. Ditch the scones for a scotch egg and forget the fizz and opt for a ‘Beer Flight Board; instead!

7. Visit the ‘One Swansea’ exhibit at Swansea Museum

Celebrate Swansea’s Intercultural Past & Present at Swansea Museum and see how over the past centuries, Swansea has maintained a proud record of community cohesion based on cultural, racial and religious tolerance, while with each passing generation the town and city has blended the new arrivals into its own distinctive urban identity. Part of that continuing story of cultural change is told at the Swansea Museum exhibition.
8. Karaoke at Walkabout

Take Dad’s singing in the shower to another level and get him down to Walkabout on Sunday night to knock out some tunes on the Karaoke! You never know, he could win £50 for being the best singer! Yay! Drinks are on Dad!!!

For those who’d prefer to have a cwtch and watch a family film, then Cinema & Co is the place to go. Book a pallet for the family to chill out on, sit back and relax, just make sure if Dad nods off he doesn’t snore too loud!
We’ll let you in on a little secret too… they serve some very finely selected local brews too! Just tell Anna, that Nat from The Big Heart said so!
