Creative Mother’s Day Ideas To Make Her Smile
Mar 10, 2021
We know Mother’s Day can’t be the same this year, and we are all longing to give mum a hug. But there are still lots of ways to make her feel special – with a little help from our Swansea city centre businesses. Here are some inventive things you could do to send her your love:
Create a breakfast in bed hamper
You might not be able to be there to serve it up, but why not create her favourite weekend breakfast and deliver it to her doorstep? – sticking to social distancing rules, of course. Swansea Market is a great place to get golden Welsh butter, fresh rolls, eggs, bacon, Welsh cakes, jam, fruit, great coffee – anything she fancies. (If she has someone at home with her to cook it for her, all the better.)
Make a film
Sending cards and flowers will never go out of style for Mother’s Day, but you could always switch it up a little by creating a personalised video message to tell her why she’s the world’s best mum. Share your favourite memory of something you did together on a previous Mother’s Day – perhaps you took afternoon tea in The Grand Hotel or in Morgans. And pledge an IOU to do something together once the city centre is open fully. Would she like to spend the afternoon with you at the Glynn Vivian or the Elysium Gallery, or take in a show at Swansea Grand Theatre before going for dinner at Belle Vue Bistro, or La Braseria? We all need things to look forward to at the moment, don’t we?
Many of us aren’t cooking big Sunday roasts or traditional dinners at the moment because we aren’t having family gatherings. So why not treat her by dropping off a hearty roast dinner with all the trimmings from Lunchbox in Swansea Market?
Mums never take enough time out for themselves. Remind her to do this by sending her a pamper set from Valley Mill, featuring lovely scented soaps, candles and creams. They sell sweet personalised mugs, cushions and coasters too, as well as sparkly things, if she likes jewellery.
You will find Mother’s Day bouquets at all the city centre supermarkets, including Sainsbury, Tesco, Lidl and M&S. Marks & Spencer has created a Mamma Mia themed bouquet, in soft sherbert shades, and their Connie the Caterpillar cake has had a pretty Mother’s Day takeover, too.
