THE BAY COMES TO THE BAY – TURTLE BAY IS HEADED FOR SWANSEA!

  •  Turtle Bay Caribbean restaurant and bar coming to Swansea
  • First restaurant in the city
  • Opening 10th September
  • Located at Castle Street
  • 50 jobs created

Swansea can expect a sizzling hot September if new Caribbean restaurant and bar Turtle Bay has anything to do with it… The brand will be bringing their trademark jerk spices, sunshine-inspired cocktails, and tropical spirit to the city with a new restaurant opening on 10th September on Castle Street Swansea as part of the Castle Square development.

There has been an £800k investment in the 4,200 sq ft site, the transformation of which will reveal a stunning 200 seat restaurant.  Fifty new local jobs have also been created.

Turtle Bay is all about celebrating the lively, colourful, soulful and, above all, delicious experiences that the Caribbean has to offer – from rich and explosive flavours to laid back ‘liming’ – relaxing and enjoying food, drink, conversation and laughter with friends.

Food is at the heart of the Turtle Bay experience – just as it’s central to the heart and soul of Caribbean culture.  An eclectic cuisine that is influenced by a rich tapestry of ethnicities, the food at Turtle Bay offers a vast choice of bold flavours and rustic dishes, all inspired by the laid back, social outlook of the Caribbean.  The menu is meticulously researched and lovingly created.

Dishes are brimming with spicy hues and bursting with fresh, vibrant flavours.
Turtle Bay’s signature dishes include their famous jerk chicken and curry goat, but there is plenty for all palettes to choose from including a new burger menu, salad selection and a great collection of dishes for vegetarians, vegans and gluten free diners.
The menu includes ‘Cutters’ (inspired by Beach Shacks and Street Hawkers of the Caribbean Islands – perfect for sharing over cocktails); the Jerk BBQ Pit dishes including Mo’ Bay Chicken, Jerk Sirloin Steak and Jerk Lamb; Curry One Pots (rich, slowly simmered and unique Caribbean curries) and a fabulous Lunch menu.

This is fuss-free soul food for individuals that love, and live, to eat!

The bar offering is something to behold, with a menu of more than 40 Caribbean rums to choose from, all used to create a tropical cocktail list that’s as cool and credible as you’d expect from a culture that brought us Bob Marley.
Turtle Bay’s happy hour lasts from 11.30am – 7pm and then starts up again at 9.30pm Sunday to Thursday and Friday to Saturday until 7pm and starts again 10pm!  This makes it the happiest happy hour in the city, with ALL of their cocktails available at 241 during that time – it’s a must for cocktail lovers and rum enthusiasts all week long.
Turtle Bay believe in creating the full Caribbean experience for guests as soon as they walk through the door, so Swansea diners can expect a vibrant, quirky, beach-shack-inspired ray of sunshine of a restaurant!  The bold, bright, joyful interior will be designed to transport Swansea guests to sunnier climes.

Welcoming and sociable, Turtle Bay at Castle Street will have its own bespoke design, making it unique to Swansea. As well as the stunning ‘island hut’ bar, there’ll be outside dining and a vibrant, open ‘street kitchen’.

Colourful yet cosy, contemporary and cool, Turtle Bay Swansea will feature Caribbean colour schemes and bespoke wall murals, as well as the restaurant’s trademark use of reclaimed materials. Customers can expect to see lights hanging from beer crates, reclaimed wood and chequer-plate; and reclaimed speakers… all making up one totally unique restaurant!

Restaurant opens on Sunday 10th September 2017
